SunTrust National Marathon & Half Marathon

This is the flagship property in the portfolio of events which are wholly owned and operated by the Sports Alliance. Since its inception in 2006, the race has seen significant growth in the number of participants including 110% growth from year one to two and local and national media coverage. The race was covered live on NBC4 and profiled in Runner’s World magazine (read more). Community involvement has continued to expand as well through a D.C. Public School engagement program and Advisory Neighborhood Committee approval.

The Marathon is an annual event which will grow exponentially from a tourism and economic development standpoint. The Sports Alliance youth investment partners played a vital role in ensuring that each race participant had a front-row seat in witnessing the positive impact that this event had on their organization and neighborhoods in which they live. We are confident this event will become the signature marathon in D.C., while creating the civic pride that other major cities experience with their own marathons.

The Capitol Hill Volleyball Classic – Washington DC Convention Center

This is a new annual event for Washington, DC which took place over President’s Day weekend in 2007 at the Washington Convention Center. This event drew over 250 youth girls (12-18 years old) volleyball teams from around the world.

As an official founding partner, we provided leading consultation to Metro-American Volleyball Club leaders in the cultivation of transportation, hotel, and venue partners. The city of Atlanta started a similar tournament 5 years ago which has grown to over 1,000 teams and we expect this event to experience similar growth in the future.
